Program Description

As psychologists navigating tumultuous times, challenging the wellness of so many, we face unprecedented ethical challenges. Pandemic stress, sociopolitical turmoil, economic hardship, a changing workforce, controversy over gender and sexuality, and a general sense of extremism and adversary are just a few of the components creating the lens through which we view the world. Mental health professionals are in greater demand than ever, yet our lives are profoundly impacted by these issues and our collective practice is being influenced. Where our own intentional wellness and self-care was important in the past, it is now mission critical in the face of overwhelming challenges. This workshop has two goals. First, the chairs of DPA committees on Ethics and Psychology & The Law will present results of a recent survey on this topic distributed to the DPA list serve and will present those findings in the context of requests for consultation to the ethics committee. The bulk of the workshop will be interactive and focused on a series of conversations sparked by specific ethical dilemmas (cases) that will be presented and experientially navigated by all attendees.

Target Audience:

The DPA plans and promotes programs serving the continuing educational needs of psychologists and professionals across a variety of disciplines. Through the provision of high quality programming, the DPA hopes to support psychologists and other mental health professionals in their commitment to provide ethical, culturally sensitive and competent services to our community
